Tour Diary: The Gaff, London

The Gaff - Fucking Hostile

The Gaff - Fucking Hostile

The penultimate show for the tour sees us in London. The Gaff, formerly the Kings Head on Holloway rd is an infamous rock bar. The drive up is OK, no delays today and we strip down some of the gear we have been carrying around all week as we are coming back into Brighton tonight ready for the finale at The Hydrant (Hare & Hounds) tomorrow night.

It’s an early start and the turn out is OK, some guys from Thrash Hits come down to check out the set, but they’re heading off to catch Bastions in Kings Cross straight after. We all hang and have a few beers before hand.It is roasting but the sound is probably the sweetest since Derby and PK’s new bell chimes through perfectly.

Damnas play after us and despite their guitarist just coming out of hospital a few days later, still with pins in his leg they absolutely tear the place up. Some seriously sick drum fills and a bass player that has fingers of steel.

Unfortunately, we have to leave after their set missing Terrathorn’s headline slot. We hit the road confident that we have slapped London in the face and will be back soon.

Tomorrow is the final show in Brighton. Time to draw some battle lines.

Tour Diary: Chichester Inn

Shittest Breakfast in Chichester

Shittest Breakfast in Chichester

After another night kipping in the van at Fleet, we headed to the scenic surroundings of Chichester. Thanks to the tip off from Joff of Mask of Judas, who are headlining tonight, we parked up and headed off to the drum shop on the outskirts of town to get the snare fixed.

Whilst the magic man in the store did his thing Ant started chapping to a chap that came in about his awesome tee to find that he was the new drummer for Trigger The Bloodshed!

Total doss day in the sun relaxing in the Chichester Cathedral gardens which was pretty darn perfect.

We all had a pretty good feeling about the show as it is Mask of Judas’s home town show and they’ve also been on tour for about the same time as us.

The Chichester Inn despite being small is a great pub. Another basic setup with a PA but sound was pretty tight.

Here There Be Monsters set was a belter with Ant firing up the people sat in the beer garden watching through the window, despite paying to get in? It paid off because some guy walked up to the merch stand and bought a CD whilst the guys were still playing, Ant had to give him a CD whilst singing, the guy stayed for the rest of the set then left!

Everything went really well with one of the best Amaranthus performances of the tour so far. The boys tore up the floor Barbados rounding up the night with Gaz stood on a bar chair on one side and Ant on another stuck right in with the crowd.

Mask of Judas are just disgustingly good. Tech/death/metal with a savage female vocalist. Can’t wait to watch them again on Sunday.

Not wanting to cope with another night in the van, we decide as it’s so close it was time to head back to Brighton for some comfort. Hastings tomorrow at The Carlisle. I’ve had some bad experiences there in the past, hopefully it has got better.
